Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI don’t want to cut a hole in my new deck if it’s not going to be a pretty tree. Not sure if I can salvage the tree since it now is sprouting like a bush instead of a tree.

It likely would not return to its former splendor. I suggest removing the stump entirely and saving your deck. Here's an article that will help:
