Growths on Crepe Myrtle Tree

Our crepe myrtle tree (about 30 yrs old) has large growths on the trunk and several of the large branches. They look like big tumors but don’t seem to affect the growth of the tree. They are just ugly! Do you have any idea what may have caused this? I haven’t seen any other crepe myrtle trees with such growths. The tree is about 10 feet tall.
