Growing wisteria in Rio de Janeiro city (zone 11a)

Hello,

Am I kidding myself thinking I can find a trick to grow Wisteria in Rio city? I would love to be able to, and want to experiment. Does growing in the shade help?

I’d love some veteran knowledge on the factors that render this impossible or if there is a way to ‘fool’ the plant.

Unfortunately you are too far outside of their native zone. It doesn't remain cool enough for long enough to sustain growth. They need a dormancy, or a semi dormant state, and they can't get that where you are. I would look to a different plant, completely. Sorry about that...
