Growing Peppers

I have sown an assortment of peppers in my garden (around March). However, I was wondering why they haven’t ripened or at least grown like they should. They are half in the soil and have started to grow out of the soil only slightly when they should be ripe by now. Could it be the on/off UK climate which has contributed to this lack of growth? What am I doing wrong?

I’m not clear from your description if your seed has grown into plants. If so, then yes, the weather is a factor. Pepper’s like full sun and don’t mind the heat. You might also do a soil test of your ground. Peppers are not heavy feeders but they do better in soil that is rich in organic materials. You may find this article helpful:
