Q.Growing Mandevilla In Miami – Sub Tropics
I grow mandevilla in Boston as an annual. It is one of my favorite plants. Can this plant be grown as a perennial in Miami? I assume if so it would need pruning once a year. Also in Miami would it bloom throughout the season November through May? Thank you for your advice.

ou can grow them year round but they will die back if it freezes in your area. Miami is in USDA zone 11 which has average winter minimum temperatures of 40 degrees F so mandevilla should not die back. As long as you water and fertilize and temps are warm, it should bloom. The peak blooming period is from spring to fall. You can cut it back as needed.
