Growing Grass Under A Tree

I heard that putting down a treatment of lime underneath a tree would aid in grass growing underneath due to the fact that the roots of the tree put off high acidity levels causing the grass to die. Is this valid or not, and if not, what can I do to get grass growing under the tree?

check with google as to the correct ph for lawn before adding lime for no good reason and purchase a shady mix available from nursaries or Bunnings Good luck Charlie simpson

It is true that most tree roots create a higher acid level, but really what makes it difficult for grass to grow under a tree is the lack of moisture and lack of sun under a tree. The first being sucked up rapidly by the roots and the later blocked by the canopy.
