Growing English Ivy

I’ve planted English Ivy and I’m wondering if I should mulch the area?

If you are using it as a ground cover, I would not use mulch. The little roots along the stems need to be able to grow into the ground. Plus, the groundcover replaces mulch.

If it's being used as a climber on a wall or trellis, yes, I would mulch around it.
