Growing Cala Lilies From SeedKnoxville

I would like to try growing calla lilies from seeds. I read your article on line and have a couple of questions. How do you know when the seedpod is thoroughly dry so you can remove it from the plant? Do you put the seed in soilless medium only or do you mix the soilless medium with soil? I found these two sentences confusing: “Put a high-quality soilless medium in a well draining pot and place the seeds that have started in the pots. It is best to plant two seeds per pot right underneath the soil. Keep the soil moist and watch for growth.”

When it feels dry, and has changed color, it is likely ready to be picked. In these sentences, "soil" refers to the "soilless media", such as peat or coco-coir.
