Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI planted asparagus last year. I have shoots growing this year but all the shoots are surrounded by a green long leaf thing and I don’t know if that’s a weed or part of the plant. Should I remove all growth around each spear, or is that part of the asparagus plant? I can’t seem to find any pictures to let me know what is appropriate to be growing around the spears.

The green leafy things are weeds. Remove them.
