Growing a plant out of its hardiness zone

I want to buy a plant that is listed as zones 4-9. My zone is 10. Will it thrive?

As long as you can provide shade, or cover for it during the hottest portions of your climate then it can be possible. What is the plant? There may be a way to grow this in container, or even provide conditions as long as you are mindful of its tolerances.
