Q.Grow Bags Too Near Walnut Tree/juglone

Zone Southern IL | Anonymous added on July 8, 2021 | Answered

I didn’t realize the tree was a walnut til my very expensive tomato plants in my new grow bags with the pricy soil began wilting. What can be done to save them. If I move the bags, even if the plants can be saved, how do I know the new plant won’t die too? Will emptying the bag & laundering it work?

In container, even in bags, this will not be a problem. The juglone will not enter the soil in container. It is likely another issue. Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to identify the illness, so I will be unable to tell you how to fix it. In the meantime, I can include articles that will help with growing tomatoes.
