Ground to Pot Transplant

I have been offered a Fig tree, which is planted in the ground. I have a small yard with potted vegetable plants. My question is: can I transfer a fig tree to a pot, or maybe a barrel?

Yes, you can if the tree isn't too large. Make certain to place it in a pot that is big enough to accommodate its root system. Also, provide it with the same growing conditions in the pot as you would in the ground.
