Q.Grew An Avocado From A Pit. It Will Not Produce Fruit.

If I get at “start” off that tree will a resulting tree be fruitless also?

Hello:

Thank you for sending us your gardening question.

Your best bet is to start over with an avocado plant purchased from a nursery. A start will not help. Avocados grown from seed make a pretty plant, but it can take 6 to 12 years, if ever, to produce fruit. And if it does produce fruit, chances are it will be inferior. Most avocados are grafted for commercial sale and can produce fruit in two years. Here is more:
