Green Pods on Irises

Is the green pod the seed? Should I just plant the pod or are there seeds inside? I want to try to grow some Iris from seeds. Thanks.

Yes, the pods are seeds. Since iris grown from seeds often don’t look like the parent, and also they take 2 or 3 seasons to bloom, home growers usually plant or propagate them from rhizome divisions.

Growing them from seed has to be done in a certain way, too. However, if you want to explore the possibilities, you should try.
