Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comHello! My green beans from my garden are splitting apart when cooked. They are a mix of Kentucky wonder, blue lake and Kentucky blue. I am not doing anything differently than last year aside from planting them where they get more sun. Im in laguna niguel, xalifornia. The beans look the same, harvesting them at 5-7 inches. Taste is a bit off as well. I am growing them in 5 gallon pots. Did i over-fertilize? Too much sun? Not enough water? Bad seeds? Any thoughts?

From my research it shows that you should soak the beans prior to cooking to prevent splitting.

Thanks! But i have never done so before. Just boil em, toss some seasoned salt on em and eat. Perhaps our oddly humid weather for the past 10 days? In any event, beans get removed on monday and ill replant 6 varieties, labeled, kept separate. Bean research time!
