Q.Grass sandburs not in lawn

Zone Keystone, NE | Anonymous added on August 26, 2020 | Answered

I live in rural Nebraska. We have the grassy type sandburs controlled in our lawn but outlying areas have huge patches of them. Besides mowing and raking the seeds is there something I can plant to squeeze them out. We have tried pre-emergent but that was not successful…the timing is so difficult.

I wish I could have turned up some kind of natural method of killing sandbur, but it may require some pretty hefty chemicals. I'd like to suggest contacting your closest agricultural extension service for advice. Here's a ink to the Perkins County website :

I located an article published by Noble Research.org that may be helpful at https://www.noble.org/globalassets/docs/ag/pubs/soils/nf-so-11-05.pdf
