Q.petunias drooping in a basket

Zone New jersey | anitadavishaddon added on April 17, 2015 | Answered

Got petunias in a basket for Easter. It’s hangingĀ in full sun. It has rained so they are watered but the whole plant now just droops down over basket. Can it be saved?

The only thing I can think of is perhaps your petunias have been over-watered. Perhaps they got drenched or battered down in the rain? And, is there adequate drainage in your hanging basket? Feel the soil - if it's damp/soggy then your petunias have definitely been overwatered and should be probably be re-potted in fresh soil after being inspected for possible root rot.
