Q.Good Morning: I Need Info About Tomatoes Ripening On The Vine

Ok. I recently read your article on vine ripened vs early harvesting of tomatoes in which you stated that the fruit is effectively sealed off from the vine after breaking. So how does the fruit get water? Paul

They won't, off the vine. The water will not be what is responsible for ripening, however. They, already, contain the chemicals necessary, and will be pushed along by ethylene gases, among others.
