Q.Gladioli

Growing glads for the first time, so hopefully done everything right. But now flowering and the lower blooms are dying before the upper ones open. This is a very quick process, within a day half of the bloom is dead. I have 40 plants growing up on a SE facing fence, all look very strong without ‘thrips. ‘

Thank you for your Time MAC

This is pretty standard for glads. If you look at the cut ones you get in the store, very often, the bottom buds are wide open while the top are still tightly shut.

You may be able to extend flowering some by increasing water. That should help some.
