ginko tree

I have a two year old tree. It is spring and no sign of life, how can I tell if it is living?

The first thing would be to bend the tip of a stem. If it is brittle then go down and scratch the stem until there is a sign of life. If the whole tree is brittle, then it has died. If there is a sign of life, then cut back to that point, and it should recover.
