Getting rid of creeping charlie/ground ivy

What is your most successful way to get rid of creeping charlie/ground ivy. I am allergic to it but have been trying to pull it out and then itch for several hours afterward. Is it better to hire a company to spray it as it is all over the backyard? Do any of the companies have a spray that can get rid of it?
