Getting Gardenia Bush to Bloom

I transplanted a gardenia bush from a pot to the ground a month ago. I planted it in a mixture of peat and potting soil and it receives sun from morning until around 2:00. I also have been giving it water soluble, acid-based fertilizer weekly. It receives water 3-4 times a week. It appears to have gone dormant and the leaves are drooping and dull. No new growth at all.  What can I do to revive the plant?
