Q.Getting a damaged orchid to flower

Zone Sydney, Australia | dmorganb added on July 9, 2017 | Answered

I rescued a phal orchid recently which my neighbours dumped when they moved. It only had one old leaf intact, all the others were badly burned and very damaged. I repotted it into new orchid mix, pruned all the damaged leaves off and just left one leaf. After several months on a bright windowsill it has put out a healthy new leaf and a new external root, but now I would like to try to encourage it to flower. It is mid winter here in Australia. Any suggestions? thanks!

While it may just require some time to bloom, this article should help you provide it with the perfect conditions for blooming
