I have a lot of big leaves but few flowers. Do I need to take some leaves out?

You may be over-fertilizing which causes lots of leaf growth at the expense of flowers. Flower buds are fragile things so make sure the plant is getting all the water it needs but not too much. Soil should be damp, not wet.
