Q.Garlic Blooms

Zone Indiana | Sarah Cross added on July 3, 2017 | Answered

I allowed half of my garlic to bloom as an experiment to see if taking the scapes off really affected the size of the bulb. I am surprised to find that my scapes didnt actually bloom but as forming what appears to be a ball full of garlic cloves. They are larger than a pea… about the size of a small marble.

I cant seem to find a photo of what it looks like online. Can these little cloves be harvested? Eaten? Replanted? I would love to know how best to use this new-to-me part of the garlic plant.
