Garlic

Question

My garlic plants have stalks like leeks. Is this normal and if so what type is it? Planted them in the fall. The garlic bulbs had purple strips when planted. Thanks.

This can be normal in many varieties, although pinpointing the exact cultivar will be very difficult. It does seem to be a hardneck variety, though. This can develop that hard stalk.
