Q.Gardenias Have Black Like Color

My bushes have a dark color to them, like maybe a fungus or something. I live in Conway, SC near Myrtle Beach.

It is sooty mold. It is an indicator of a pest problem. We recommend treating the plant with neem oil. These articles will help:
