Gardenia Blooming Season

Question

When do gardenias bloom and how do I get them to bloom? It is an indoor potted plant that has not bloomed for over a year.

While most typically bloom in May or June, there are several varieties that bloom in early summer. The plant may not be getting enough light ot the soil could be lacking phosphorus (in which case, bone meal would help).
