garden weed

How do I get rid of the wild onion that is spreading more and more every year? It is now in my lawn grass. It looks like tall patches of grass that encroaches more every year. When you dig it up it has little white bulbs (looks like tiny onions) that there is no end to underneath the grass shoots.
