Q.Galvanized Wire Toxic To StagHorn?

Zone San Diego, CAL | jmjmbigger added on June 8, 2023 | Answered

We have a newly mounted Staghorn Fern supported by Galvanized Wire on a wood panel. It is not doing well and we wondered if the Galvanized Wire is toxic to the fern. Our weather in San Diego has been cool and felt that may contribute (?).

Galvanized wire is a common way to secure a Staghorn to its wood post! Unfortunately, it may be something else contributing to the poor health of your plant. It is important to ensure that the humidity around the plant is high. This may require a little boost.
