Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comFound a fungus (?) that looked like 3 worms poking out of the soil. They were round and pink, and the top pointed end was red. A few inches away were a few more. They were maybe 3/8″ in diameter and 2″ long. Later in the afternoon, they were drying out. I have never seen such a thing, and I’ve been gardening most of my life.

Do they have a bad smell too? It sounds like you may have stinkhorn mushrooms, which are essentially harmless. Given time the mushrooms will simply go away on their own.
