A standard size for a window box is 3 feet long, but take your window size into consideration.
A window box should be about 25 % of the height of the window.
The window box should be no less then 4 inches wide.
Proper drainage is very important. Drainage holes that are 1/2 inch in diameter and spaced every 6 inches.
Choosing a ornamental tree is dependent on your growing zone and personal taste.
Visit your local garden centers and even drive your neighborhood for ideas.
Also a call to your local County Extension Office can provide local recommendations for the best success in a new planting.
