French Dwarf Bean Problem

I’m not sure what the problem is with my French dwarf bean plants. They are starting to develop a woody (almost rotted) stalk, yet they are still producing flowers and sprouting beans. Could you tell me what this is and how I can fix it? Thank you

I would check for borers, which can burrow into the stalks and cause them to become woody. The corn borer is a common pest of bean plants. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/corn/controlling-corn-borer-pests.htm [1]
