Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI live in Rome GA , zone 7b. We have had an unusually wet fall and winter. It is late winter now. I found about 20 amaryllis bulbs buried in sopping puddled clay. I ‘kind of knew’ they were there when we purchased the house years ago. They have been sporadic bloomers, basically ignored. This year as I was trying to figure out why my back yard has become a mud pit, literally boots sinking 3 inches in the mud. This has never happened before. I dug up the bulbs (which were in deep shade, facing south but shielded by our shed); but now I don’t know what to do with them. I feel as if I have found a lost treasure and I want to save them. (they do have green leaves sprouting… that were under the mud… I dont know how) Right now they are in a tub in my garage and the clay is starting to dry out, We are in the 50’s daily for the most part but MORE rain about every 4 days. **Side note: they were one of my mom’s favorite flowers and she died recently** Please tell me what to do with them.

You need a place in full sun with well drained soil to plant them. You are on the edge of hardiness so a south location in a protected spot will help. If you can't find a spot without clay, you need to amend the soil. Here is more:
