Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have just finished reading your article on forsythia pruning, but one question remained unanswered for me. The branches on my forsythia are rounded upwards, but I have two or three really straight shoots growing mainly in the middle. Should I cut those right to the trunk or just shorten them? While my shrub is in bloom right now those shoots already have leaf buds on them.

I would wait until the shrub has finished flowering and then you can cut them back by about a third.
