Forced hyacinth bulb

I forced hyacinth bulbs this winter indoors. I am located in CT. They are beginning to die after flowering beautifully. Should I continue to leave them in water, stop adding water, place them in a cool location or….???? I would like to transplant them to my garden once the ground warms up. When would it be sensible to plant them?

Once done blooming I like to remove them from the water vase and allow them to dry.
Leave the stems on the bulbs. Place them on some layered newspaper in a cooler location with air circulation.
You can then plant them out when the weather warms this spring.

Though it can be difficult to get forced bulbs to re-bloom, I like to give them a chance.
