Flowers discovered in Ga. at very old homestead site.

Hello,

I lease 200 acres for hunting in Forsyth, Ga. I have noticed the greenery on the flowers for 4 years but have never seen any color whatsoever. We have gotten 3 straight weeks of a lot of rain. While out for a ride on the property my husband & I discovered these beautiful flowers. I have never seen anything so beautiful. We both love to garden and dig up saplings like redbuds & dogwoods and plant in our yard often. So of course we started harvesting these beauties before I even knew they were gladiola. I am attaching 2 pics so maybe you can help me identify the variety.

thanks,
Lisa Murray

It appears to be an older glad that is known as the sword lily, but it would be very hard to pinpoint the exact variety unless you know what it was when you planted.

The best you could do would be to take pictures, or samples to your local extension service. They will be able to point you in the right direction of finding out.
