What does a Lily look like when it is half grown? When there is no flower, does it look like a weed?

This really depends on the variety of lily you have but generally, daylilies have long, flat strap-shaped blades that grow in clumps from the crown of the plant. The leaves of most other true lilies will grow around the entire length of the stem, in whorls or spirals.
