Flowering Hibiscus

I have a hibiscus plant that started as a small plant on my desk a couple of years ago. It is now in a larger pot at home. It has never bloomed again but continues to grow tall and full. . . only leaves, no blooms. I have it outdoors in the summer on a sunny deck and bring it in the house for the winter. I will need to trim it this year, as it grew too tall. What can I do to get it to bloom again?

Have you fertilized the plant? Sometimes fertilizer that is high in nitrogen can decrease blooms, actually focusing more on the foliage growth instead. Try giving it a boost of fertilizer that is high in potassium (nitrogen should be mid-range and phosphorous low).
