Filling Holes In Lawn After Removing Weeds

My lawn has dozens of weeds, mainly dandilions. I am trying to kill them with a contact weed killer gel and I have a tool to lift them out. The tool works but then leaves a narrow deep hole. Do I leave them or fill them in, and if so, what do I use? John Innes or would ordinary compost from the garden centre do? Thanks

You could just rake some topsoil or ordinary compost across the holes to fill in.
