Filling Hole Left by Dead Tree

A tree was removed in front yard years ago and roots and stump have deteriorated, leaving sink holes that are now hazards in the lawn. I’ve put a lot of soil in there but it just doesn’t solve the problem. How do I fix this?

Have you tamped the soil? Normally, you need to tamp down the soil some, add more, tamp more, etc. This helps to remove any air pockets, which cause it to sink once it rains.
