Figs Produce Some Fruit Only on East Facing Stems

I seem to have 2 different species but both produce fruit; however, not very many on each bush. Do they only have fruit on new growth? Most of the fruit is on the side facing east. How can I increase yield and why is my neighbor’s not producing at all?  These are old established plants growing in south central Missouri. We have plenty of bees and other pollinators. What fruit we get is delicious. Also, can I dig a piece to start a new plant? I have never had a fig before so any info would be helpful. Thanks, jhogan

You can add more phosphorus, like bone meal, to the soil to help with your fruit production. Here is more info on how to care for your fig trees: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/how-to-grow-figs.htm [1]

Yes, you can start them by cuttings. This article will help with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/figs/fig-propagation.htm [2]
