Fig trees

How will planting a female fig tree next to my male fig tree allow the male tree to produce edible fruit?

Most Fig Tree’s that are grown in the home garden are self pollinating and do not require a 2nd tree pollinator.

There are many varieties that do require both a male and female tree and the pollination is done by the pollinating wasps that transfer the pollen.
