Q.Fig Tree Time Warp

Anonymous added on May 24, 2012 | Answered

I have a fairly old fig tree, 18 feet tall. We had a hard winter last season. This spring its leaves came on and just stopped at 1/4 normal size. They’re green and soft, just few and small. My other fig tree is fine. I have tried feeding and making sure it’s watered. It’s  just frozen in time – strange.

I would check the levels of potassium in the soil, that or phosphorus. Both of these nutrients, when lacking, can affect fruiting like that. While you have been feeding the tree, it may be depleting these nutrients faster than others.
