Fig Tree Overwatered

Someone (no names) left a sprinkler on over our little fig tree and understandably it’s not happy. Leaves have shrivelled up where it was previously in blooming health. Any advice to rescue the situation?

Sorry this happened. Make sure you keep any dead leaves and stems trimmed away. You can work some compost into the surrounding soil to help with drainage, and don't fertilize the tree until it recovers. Stop watering, and only water later around the outline of the tree's canopy – not right up close to the trunk. Check the soil moisture a few inches down before you water it again. If all else fails, you may need to dig it up, trim away the drowned roots and replant it. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/environmental/signs-of-plants-affected-by-too-much-water.htm [1]
