What is the best time of the year to remove a 5 foot tall fig tree from the pot to ground? How can I measure the pH level of my soil?

Spring or fall is generally the best time for transplanting, or while the tree is dormant. There are some very good and low cost pH testing devices on the market today that are also very easy to use. Soil pH testing kits are available from many gardening stores, or your local extension office can also test soil samples for you.
