Q.Fig tree care

Anonymous added on September 20, 2015 | Answered

Two years ago my fig tree gave me loads of fruit. I thought the hard winter last year had finished it off but this year there’s a lot of new shoots growing up from the base. Can I save it? If so, how/if should I prune it, please?

It is likely that your Fig did die off in the winter and not the root stock is sending up shoots. These shoots are likely not the same variety as the tree, but of another type of fig.
You can root these shoots if you would like but the fruit type will not be the same.
