Fig Tree Bugs

The fig tree has sawdust droppings, like a bug has bore a pin head hole. How do I treat this? It leaves the appearance of a white inch worm along the bark and branches but feels like saw dust.

It is most likely a wood borer of some kind, but it is hard to say what kind as there are several that can attack figs and you can only identify it if you see it. This article covers several kinds of borers and recommends treatments:
