Fig Tree Already Has Lost Its Leaves

I have a fig tree in my yard. It still has green figs, but has lost all its leaves except for a handful. Is this normal?

Fig trees drop leaves and stop ripening their fruit when they are stressed. It may be stressed due to the unusual heat we have been experiencing. Increase the water to the tree and this should help.
