Fig tree

I am growing a fig tree in Tuscaloosa Alabama. I think the variety is Petit Negro. This year all the upper ends of branches and twigs were leafing out ant the last cold snap, and all the buds died. The ends of the upper branches and twigs are blackened. Should I snip and destroy? Or is this merely frost damage?

This is likely due to the cold damage.

Remove the dead plant material.
